Researching Your Family History in Cemeteries

Was your relative really born in Manchester, England like the death certificate states, or was it is Liverpool as the grave stone says? Was the deceased especially proud of his profession? Did he fight in a war? Cemetery records, both in paper and stone, can provide wonderful data for the family history researcher as well as for the community history researcher. Even the type of cemetery or the placement of a grave within a cemetery can provide insight into the nature of the deceased which can not be obtained in the usual way. All of these things and more will be illustrated (mainly from McHenry County) and discussed when Craig Pfannkuche of McHenry County Historical Society presents his slide illustrated program concerning cemetery research at Harvard Diggins Library. Advance registration is required. Please call 815-943-4671 to reserve your seat at this event.
