April 16, 2009
The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m. by President Jean Hutchinson. Also present were Jo Carbonetti, Reggie Logan, Joyce Palmer, employee Holly Haupt and Librarian Harriet Roll. Ann Almgren and Allen Gillette were contacted by conference call. Jo moved to approve the minutes of the March 19, 2009 meeting, and Joyce made the second, motion carried.
Current Bills: A motion was made by Reggie and a second by Jo to approve payment of the April 2009 bills as presented. The motion carried.
Financial Reports: Harriet distributed copies of the current reports for city library account, fines account, Diggins money market and Head Librarian accounts. She said the library should end up with about $20,000 in city funds, and that the approximately $10,000 Per Capita Grant for 2008-09 fiscal year, has not yet been received. The Diggins Board provided $50,000 of the library’s accounts payable in the 08-09 fiscal year. Library statistics show increased usage in most areas this past year.

Committee Reports: None.
Librarian’s Report: Harriet reported that patrons have been requesting more computers so the staff is making notes of how often people are waiting to use a computer. Also, 2 USB hubs have been stolen from the public internets. Staff members from the Illinois Worknet Program came to the library to acquaint the library staff with their job seeker website. They said they would try to find volunteers to assist the job seekers in negotiating their website. Harriet also said that during the audit she had to request the library’s incorporation papers from the State of Illinois. They had on file the 1908 papers cancelling the incorporation but were unable to locate the 1941 papers, which confirmed the second incorporation in 1908. McHenry County had the 1941 papers on file.
Unfinished Business: The Centennial Committee will be meeting next week, more plans will be known after that. The Board discussed the 2009-10 draft budget and accepted it as presented. Reggie made a motion to increase salary raises by one more percentage point, this was seconded by Joyce and the motion carried.
New Business: Summer reading club will begin June 15th. Library employee, Janet Harlow, is getting the publicity ready and lining up some new and fun events for this summer.
Adjournment: Jo made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:53 p.m., seconded by Reggie, and the motion was carried.
The next scheduled meeting is May 21, 2009.
