HARVARD CITY LIBRARY BOARD
July 16, 2009
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Jean Hutchinson. Also present were Reggie Logan, Jo Carbonetti, Ann Almgren, Joyce Palmer, employee Holly Haupt and Librarian Harriet Roll. Jo moved to approve the minutes of the June 18, 2009 meeting, and Joyce made the second, motion carried.
Current Bills: A motion was made by Reggie and a second by Joyce to approve payment of the July 2009 bills as presented. The motion carried.
Financial Reports: Harriet distributed copies of the current reports for city library account, fines account, Diggins money market and Head Librarian accounts.
Citizen Comments: None.
Committee Reports: (see unfinished business).
Librarian’s Report: Summer reading club has been busy with many check-outs and activities. This Sunday is the family pool party and all Board members are invited to attend.
There is a continuing graffiti problem, mostly in the boys washroom. The outside wood beams refinishing has been completed by Greg Amelianovich. Three dead pine trees have been removed.
Circulation is up by 9% compared to this time last year.
Unfinished Business: The plans for the centennial celebration are nearly complete. Set-up will begin at 11 a.m. on the morning of Aug. 9th. The city will bring about 75 folding chairs.
The Board reviewed policies as required by the Per Capita Grant and will continue at the next meeting.
New Business: The election of officers was tabled until there is a full Board in attendance. Heather Vierck will be recommended to the Mayor to fill the Board vacancy.
Possible policy changes were discussed and Harriet will make some recommendations at the Sept. meeting.
Adjournment: Reggie made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:37 p.m., seconded by Jo, and the motion was carried.
There will not be a meeting in August, so the next scheduled meeting is September 17, 2009.
