HARVARD CITY LIBRARY BOARD
October 15, 2009
The meeting was called to order at 7:02 pm by President Jean Hutchinson. Also present were Reggie Logan, Rick Adams, Joyce Palmer, Ann Almgren, Allen Gillette and Library Director Harriet Roll. Minutes of the last meeting, in July, were corrected to read “the meeting was called to order by Vice-President, Jo Carbonetti.” Rick moved to approve the minutes with this correction and Joyce made the second; the motion carried.
Current Bills: Reggie made the motion to approve the bills for October as presented. Jo made the second and motion carried.
Financial reports: Harriet distributed copies of the current reports for city library account, fines account, Diggins money market and Head Librarian accounts.
Citizen comments: None.
Committee reports: The Enrichment Committee has arranged for a program in January with a local person speaking of their WWII experiences.
Librarian’s report: Harriet has completed and submitted the Per Capita grant to the State of Illinois and had copies available for the Board. She also mentioned that the next large purchase for the library will probably be a new microfilm reader/printer. Parts a becoming scarce for the current machine so it may not be reparable in the future.
Unfinished Business: Harriet passed out copies of the library’s current by-laws with the recommended changes. These changes were discussed and further action was tabled until the November meeting.
New Business: Harriet announced that she would like to retire in the summer of 2010. She passed out some guidelines for the board members to assist in the preparation of hiring a new library director. She will write out her current job duties to use as a “road map” in updating the job description. The Board will act as a committee of the whole for this project.
Since Jean & Rick cannot attend a Nov. 19th meeting, it will be changed to Nov. 12, 2009.
Meeting adjourned: At 7:50 PM on a motion by Rick and a second by Reggie.
