MINUTES

The meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm by President Jean Hutchinson. Also present were Board members Reggie Logan, Joyce Palmer, Ann Almgren, Jo Carbonetti, Library Director Harriet Roll and library staff member Holly Haupt. Reggie made a motion to approve the minutes of the November 12, 2009 meeting and Joyce made the second, motion carried.

Current Bills: Jo made the motion to approve the bills for December as presented. Reggie made the second and the motion carried.

Financial reports: Harriet distributed copies of the current reports for city library account, fines account, Diggins money market and Head Librarian accounts.

Citizen comments: None.

Committee reports: The Enrichment Committee has scheduled programming for January & February 2010.

Librarian’s report: Harriet said the quote from Associated Electric to replace the indoor beam lights is for $750.00 Jo made a motion to accept the quote as presented, Reggie made the second and the motion carried. Harriet had a conference with the Illinois State Archives about library record retention. She can now form a policy for the library about which records must be kept.

Unfinished Business: The job description and posting that Rick put together for Harriet’s position was discussed and some changes were made. The Board felt a budget should be created for the search process. Harriet said they could post the position on-line with all the library systems in Illinois at no cost and also at Illinois universities and colleges that have a library science school (include Madision, WI, too).

The Board thought they could accept applications until March 1, 2010. Jean will have a library email account to receive them and the posting should be ready to go out in early January 2010.

New Business:. The Board decided to have an early meeting in January on the 7^th to approve the job description and position posting.
