McHenry County Library Lovers Expedition 2025
The McHenry County Library Lovers Expedition returns in 2025!
What is it?
Every February, public libraries in McHenry County participate in a county-wide expedition to visit the many valuable public libraries that our area has to offer.
How do I participate?
Sign up at your nearest public library, or any participating library. You do not need to have a library card or live within a library’s boundaries to participate – all are encouraged to visit the libraries and see the many aspects that make libraries a valuable contribution to every community. You will receive a map, guidebook, and your first collectible brag tag. You will also select your preferred prize basket (more information on this below). All ages.
Visit each library during its regular hours between February 1 – March 31 and check in with library staff to have your guidebook stamped and receive your unique brag tag from each library. Feel free to browse the library, sign up for a Reciprocal Borrower library account to borrow materials, and participate in various fun, self-led activities throughout the libraries. For example, Harvard Diggins Library will have several traveling exhibits on display for visitors to enjoy! From used book stores, to play areas, to local history rooms, to skee-ball – there’s something unique to experience at each library!
How many libraries do I need to visit?
You are welcome to visit any library during their regular operating hours. However, to be eligible for the prize drawings at the end of the Library Lovers Expedition:
- Check in at any 12 participating libraries to be entered in a drawing for one of 15 themed gift certificate prize baskets worth $50 each. You will select your preferred prize basket for this drawing at registration.
- Check in at ALL 15 participating libraries to be automatically entered in the Grand Prize drawing of a gift certificate basket worth $150!
