Before the Chicago Cubs: Baseball Comes to the Windy City

South Suburban College History Professor Bruce Allardice joins us at Harvard Diggins Library to take a look at the “National Pastime” during the 1850s and 1860s in Chicago. He focuses on how the game spread, who played it, and how the Civil War affected the spread of the game – and how the Chicago Cubs were formed!  This presentation will be in-person in the Burbank Meeting Room. Free and open to the public – no library card required. Members of our adult summer reading club will receive an additional badge and raffle ticket entry for attending.
